A new team of students officially began their apprenticeship this month at Doppelmayr’s headquarters in Wolfurt, Austria. As part of their vocational training, 34 young men and women will learn the ins and outs of ropeway design through educational programs related to electrical engineering, metalworking, mechanical engineering, mechatronics and machining engineering.

With the additional students from the 2017 class, a record 104 apprentices are now honing their craft at Doppelmayr. Apprenticeships are a longstanding tradition at the world’s largest ropeway company and have been instrumental to its success since the business was established in 1893. Company founder, Konrad Doppelmayr, himself was an apprentice to a village blacksmith during the early stages of his career.

These students, at just 15 or 16 years old, spend one day at school and four days at Doppelmayr. For many of them, these apprenticeships are the start of an exciting and rewarding career in the cable car industry. For those interested in training with Doppelmayr, please contact Mrs. Renate Prinz from Apprentice Training by telephone (05574/604-1059) or email (renate.prinz@doppelmayr.com).
