In Ireland, An environmental group in West Cork is asking for government intervention related to the plans to increase tourism to Dursey Island to replace the current 6 passenger cable car with a new €7m one. Referencing surveys contained in an environmental impact statement, the group says the increase in tourism threatens the protected bird species. 

In the article Government Approves Cable Car to Kosel, renderings from the Jerusalem Development Authority depict the cable car system recently approved by the Housing Cabinet. The one-mile route is envisioned to have 73 cars for transporting the estimated 135,000 tourists that visit the Old City each week.

An aerial urban gondola is integral to the Simon Fraser University’s new campus master plan. The gondola would be the primary transportation component supporting nearly all of the planned growth opportunities. It is also envisioned to become a key gateway into the campus and an attractor of new cultural, employment and industry endeavors.
