Weekly Roundup: Considering Cable Cars Gives New Vision to Projects

The Mighty Argo Cable Car gondola project is the anchor for transforming a reclaimed EPA Superfund site into a destination for outdoor recreation and heritage tourism. A developer in Idaho Springs has shared a plan for redevelopment of the historic Argo Gold Mill and Tunnel. The gondola is designed to climb 1.2 miles from the EPA Superfund site at the Argo Mill. The project includes plans for a hotel, homes, and commercial village. SCJ Alliance was happy to provide market analysis for this project.

A variety of mass-transit possibilities are being considered to improve connectivity to the Aspen/Pitkin County Airport in Colorado, including a gondola. The report says more convenient transport to and from the airport should include a mix of public and private modes of transportation. A committee has identified the need for a multimodal transportation facility near the airport that would balance adequate parking, car rental, shuttle, taxi, private drop-off and pick-up, and as feasible, light rail, a monorail, or a gondola.

Cable Cars are being consider as a way to ease transportation woes across the Likoni Channel, connecting the northern and southern parts of Kenya’s coastal region.  The writer compares the cost and implementation times for various transportation options.
