- Sea to Sky Gondola will reopen on June 11. The Squamish attraction has 25 new cabins and a haul rope after the haul rope was deliberately cut for a second time in September. Security has been heightened which includes an in-house security team, 24-hour surveillance of infrastructure, and refined detection and response capabilities. See a previous Weekly Roundup here.
- Georgia plans to start construction on a ropeway connecting Rustaveli and Mtatsminda. Construction of the ropeway is expected to take 22 months. There will be two segments, the Sarajishvili-Tsgisubani and Isani-Metromsheni-Vazisubani. They will travel 2.5km and 3km respectively and together make 48,000 trips a day.
- Bogota, Colombia is working toward a green transit future, the “Green Corridor Septima”. The proposed changes will include more electric buses and extending the reach of cable cars. Bogota currently has a public transit cable car, TransMiCable. The ultimate goal is to cut greenhouse gas emissions in half by 2030 with the majority of the ideas coming from residents.
- An additional $5 million has been budgeted for the revival of the Wyler Aerial Tramway. The tramway now has a total of $10 million allocated in Texas state funds. See a previous Weekly Roundup here.
- French entrepreneurs are interested in investing in a cable car project to ease urban transport in Rwanda, Africa. The Minister of Infrastructure met with the entrepreneurs to discuss operation, maintenance, and management of cable car infrastructures.
