  • The Big Sky resort in Montana plans to build a tram and gondola. The $150 million expansion project includes connecting the base to the summit with a tram and gondola as well as a sports center and restaurant venue. Construction of the Big Sky tram is anticipated to start this summer, various sources have different debut dates, but it could open as early as the 2023/24 season. The construction of the Doppelmayr D-line gondola would follow, but there is no set timeline. For those unfamiliar with the various cable propelled technologies, a tram is one or two large cabins that jig-back along the cable and the gondola is multiple smaller cabins spaced evenly along the cable circulating through the stations.
  • The Juneau Assembly is considering buying a used lift for Eaglecrest. The lift would allow other recreational experiences to be built out. It is estimated to cost $2 million to get the system to Juneau and an additional $4.5 million to install the lift. The system is currently being used in Austria and is scheduled to be dismantled in April.
