- The Zagreb Cable Car, also known as the Sljeme cable car, in Croatia officially opened at the end of February. To celebrate, there are special promotional prices for the first month. The system has 84 ten-person cabins carrying guests 1,030 meters above sea level in 15 minutes. The system cost 537 million Kuna ($80 million USD).
- A ropeway system has been approved for Nandi Hills, India. The Karnataka government approved the project under the condition it be a public-private-partnership (PPP). The planned 2.93 kilometer ropeway will have 18 towers and 50 ten-person cabins. The project is estimated to cost Rs 93.40 crore ($12.4 million USD). The ropeway and amenities are expected to be world-class tourist destination.
- The Wellington Cable Car celebrated its 120th anniversary. The New Zealand attraction opened its doors on February 22, 1902. At 120 years, the funicular has made nearly three million trips.
- The proposed Kilimanjaro cable car in Africa is facing opposition. The government and stakeholders are set to discuss the project in early March 2022. The major concern is due to the impact to the trekking industry. It is believed quadrupling annually visitors would degrade Mount Kilimanjaro’s prime tourism, community, and environment.
