A quick look at some of the things that happened this week in the world of urban gondolas, cable cars and cable propelled transit:
- A cable car proposal, called the Gold Coast Skyride, has surfaced for the Gold Coast Hinterland in Queensland, Australia. According to the reports online, the ropeway will be a 9km, $100 million project which travels from Neranwood to Spinbrook. Project proponents hope to have more success this time around as a previous proposal in 1998 was unsuccessful.
- The cable car systems in La Paz-El Alto have made it their goal to generate 25% of their revenues from advertising and renting out storefront. There are currently 35-40 companies who are interested in operating and renting space from the various cable car stations. New services that may be included are coffee shops, gift stores, jewelry and much more.
- Tender results for the Brest Cable Car (Téléphérique) is set to be announced next month.
