A quick look at some of the things that happened this week in the world of cable cars, urban gondolas, and cable propelled transit:

  • A committee in Myanmar’s Karen State is looking to drum up $20 million for a cable car investment on Mount Zwe Ka Bin and so far private sponsors have donated $100,000. The spokesperson expressed their desire to complete the cable car project in 2 years time. If successful, the ropeway will be the country’s first and will connect the 725m limestone peak in just minutes compared to a 3 hour climb today.
  • A feasibility study is required before a cable car (picture) can be rebuilt in American Samoa’s Pago Pago Harbour. Based on a previous analysis, it is estimated that the ropeway system will cost $10 million.
