A quick look at some of the things that happened this week in the world of urban gondolas, cable cars and cable propelled transit:
- Oran, the second largest city in Algeria (pop: 1.5 million) will be studying two urban cable car systems. One system will connect to the Port while the second system will improve transport options for the town of Ain El Turck.
- CNN updates their urban cable car article from last year with more information about the massive gondola projects in La Paz, Bolivia and experiences from other cities. Not a big deal, but hopefully for their next update they’ll stop referring to urban cable cars as “Skypods”.
- Wiwo Green Economy discusses what they’ve called “Ropeway Fever”. From London, to Hong Kong to Mexico City, the cable car has captured the attention of transport practitioners worldwide.
