A quick look at some of the things that happened this week in the world of cable cars, urban gondolas and cable propelled transit:
- It appears that City Council in Munich, Germany have received a request to explore the feasibility of integrating urban cable car systems into the public transit network. Several conceptual alignments have surfaced including: 1. Englschalking S-bahn Station<> Riem S-bahn Station<> Munich Trade Fair Centre; and 2. Thalkirchen (Munich U-Bahn) <> Zoo or Harlaching Hospital.
- Veliko Tarnovo, a picturesque ancient town in Bulgaria, may soon investigate the potential of an urban gondola. Architecture students have proposed a system that traverses the Yantra River en route to the Old Town.
- The Singapore Cable Car turns 40 years old this year. As part of the festivities, the system has launched a DC comics Super Heroes event. Not only have the cabins been redesigned with super hero themes, passengers can take part in an Augmented Reality (AR) experience while riding inside the cabin!
