Exciting news for urban gondola enthusiasts as POMA has been chosen to implement five new urban ropeways. All of these systems will open between late 2015 to mid 2016.

Medellin (Colombia): Home already to some of the world’s most successful urban cable cars, this award winning city is now adding two more gondolas to its public transit network. The first line (1.45km, 1,800 pph, 42 cabins) began construction in July 2014 and is scheduled to open by mid 2016. The second line will be 1km in length, with a capacity of 2,500 pph. Both systems are being implemented as part of the “Sustainable Travel” program.

Oruro (Bolivia): A 824m long cable car with a capacity of 1,000 pph is scheduled to open at the end of 2015.

Santiago (Chile): A new 2km cable car will transport riders from Santiago Metropolitan Park to the top of San Cristobal Hill. The system is expected to open in early 2016.

Zacatecas (Mexico): An old aerial tram will be replaced with a new gondola lift. The system will be 650m in length with 4 cabins, resulting in a transport capacity of 500pph.
