The Ba Den Mountain cable car is a great way for visitors to take in historical sites and old pagodas. According to Guiness, the cable car station at this Vietnamese historical site is the largest in the world. The cable car started operating at the beginning of 2020.

Penang Hill cable car project in Malaysia has been canceled. The project was cancelled June 2 by the federal government, which was funding it. The state government is concerned about the negative effect on tourism with the project being cancelled, particularly during the current COVID-19 pandemic. The pre-feasibility study will continue and be completed by the end of 2020, but the project is not expected to move forward.

A presidential candidate in Santiago, Dominican Republic is promising to build cable car and metro systems. The transportation program proposed would continue and complete the construction of the Santo Domingo Cable Car’s Line 2.

Gondolas can serve as an alternative for public mass transit systems. Aspen, Colorado has seen how the pandemic has changed their way of life, but Aspen Skiing Co.’s gondolas have been the exception. A gondola can follow governmental regulations on social distancing by still transporting 2,400 passengers per hour. Transporting that many via bus would require 48 buses.

Vintage alpine egg-shaped cable car cabins from the Grand Massif in France are up for auction after 47 years of service. The 1973 cable car was once upon a time a symbol of modernity and featured in various newspapers and magazines. Similar systems auctioned off old chairs for €150 and most folks plan to use them as garden décor.
