  • Renovations of a Soviet-era ropeway in Georgia have been completed. The system is in the manganese mining town of Chiatura. The original system started operating in the 50s and closed in 2016 due to safety concerns. In the first two weeks of reopening the system, there have been 20,000 visitors. The renovations cost 55 million GEL ($17.7 million USD).
