A Long Beach Gondola?

Post by Steven Dale

The Long Beach, California Press-Telegram is reporting that a group of companies presented to city council an Urban Gondola proposal to the City Council’s Tidelands and Harbor Committee. The committee was intrigued and forwarded the proposal to full council for consideration.

The proposal is incredibly preliminary. No dates, routes or price tags are attached. Should the group gain City Council’s full approval however, the consortium of companies can begin to secure funding and grants for studies “with Long Beach as the official funding applicant.”

For the last 6 months we’ve been hearing more and more about proposals, city councils and planning groups looking at Cable Propelled Transit as a viable alternative in cities throughout the world.

Hopefully, within the next year, we’ll actually begin to see construction start on some of these exciting developments. Stay tuned.
