A quick look at some of the things that happened this week in the world of urban gondolas, cable cars and cable propelled transit:

• The final urban gondola system in La Paz-El Alto, Bolivia — Green Line (Línea Verde) — is scheduled to begin operations next week. This system aims to build on the success of the two existing CPT routes — the Red and Yellow Lines — which have already transported eight million passengers since opening earlier this year.

• An urban cable car proposal created by two planners has surfaced in the eastern Munich municipality of Trudering-Riem. The system is envisioned to connect the Englschalking S-Bahn station to Messestadt Riem, a new residential neighbourhood. At a recent briefing, the concept was reportedly well-received by attendees. The planners estimate that the 4.3km system will cost €85 million. 

• A full report has been released addressing the February 2014 incident at the Sea to Sky Gondola in Squamish, BC, where an empty car fell during high winds. New operational procedures were implemented immediately to ensure maximum safety. The system has been running trouble free since opening in May of this year.
