LEITNER ropeways Introduces World’s Highest 3S Gondola Lift

Post by Advertorial Team

Travelling to heights of nearly 4,000m above sea level, the Klein Matterhorn’s new aerial lift by LEITNER ropeways has claimed a new record — the world’s highest 3S gondola.

To complete the CHF 55 million project, 145 cable car and construction specialists spent 27,000 hours over 2.5 years to help realize this dream. The 3S gondola is a system of superlatives in almost any sense imaginable — 3,765m in length, 900m vertical rise, and home to Europe’s highest mountain station.

A total of 25 premium Symphony cabins with a capacity of 28 persons each are designed to maximize rider comfort and experience as passengers sit in roomy interiors with large panoramic windows. Four of these cabins offer passengers with a “Crystal ride” experience where the gondolas have glass floors and are encrusted with 280,000 Swarovski crystal beads.

Technically, 3S gondola systems have the highest wind resistance which will further increase system reliability. The new gondola builds upon the initial aerial tram to Klein Matterhorn which began operations nearly 40 years ago. The 3S ropeway will improve guest access to 360km of ski slopes, and provide enhanced recreational opportunities year-round.
