- Pittsburgh Pennsylvania’s transportation and mobility plan is considering a gondola. Mayor Bill Peduto believes a gondola would be a good solution to Pittsburgh’s challenging terrain. The Mayor thinks a gondola could take the place of an old incline, also known as a funicular, in the Hill District.
- Fans will have the chance to fly over Hard Rock Stadium in a gondola for the Super Bowl. A new $3 million gondola will open on Super Bowl Sunday to provide customers access to the stadium in Miami, Florida. The gondola ride will take 10 minutes and give riders a view of the stadium and tailgaters.
- The Staten Island Economic Development Corporation is asking residents to share their support for a gondola connecting Bayonne to Staten Island. Leitner Poma’s current design for the gondola would travel 2.5 miles in 13 minutes, transporting 3,000 people per hour, and costing $167 million. It’s hoped the online petition will show local consensus for the project
- The Zagreb cable car in Croatia is expected to open in June. After waiting 13 year, the tram will finally be open for Zagreb residents. In addition to system equipment, the stations are designed to include parking garages and offices. This new cable car comes with the price tag of $135 million.
