NeoHouston Results

I’d like to congratulate Andrew Burleson, Dean Hall and David Morris over at neoHOUSTON for their Cable Propelled Challenge.

The challenge was a quick and dirty design competition to see where neoHOUSTON’S readers would install a CPT system. Given the short turn-around time, it was impressive to see a half-dozen quality submissions. Congratulations to Danny DiPaolo for receiving the Editor’s Choice.

The funny thing is this: I know nothing about Houston. Aside from looking at the technical aspects of the submissions, I have no idea whether or not they’d be strong submissions or not. That doesn’t upset me, however, it thrills me.

For CPT to spread, people need to play with the idea in their own backyards. They need to learn about it, understand it and implement it. They need to imagine a future different from what they already know. Me yelling “GONDOLA!” seven times a week just isn’t going to cut it.

So again, neoHOUSTON, great work! The only question now is: Where should the next Cable Propelled Challenge be?

And maybe more important: What should the prize be?
