(Old) Urban Gondola Transit In Sochi?

Post by Steven Dale

From the 1987 Russian film Assa comes the peculiar scene below – apparently set in Sochi, home of the 2014 Winter Olympics. The song, performed by Boris Grebenshchivkov is titled Golden City (thanks, Google Translate!).

Does anyone know if this thing is still in operation? Does anyone know what it is?

  1. pretty song. anyone know what this movie is about?
  2. I googled the subject. It is called "Yalta—Darsan minor cableway" and is situated in Yalta, Ukraine, not Sochi. The ropeway is 600 m long, and 120 m in height, and is a tourist attraction, not urban transport. The ride time is mentioned to be 15 minutes; that gives us less than 1 mps; the information taken from a tourist site and I don't know if it is true. And yes, it seems to be still in operation.
