Shameless Self-Promotion: New Zealand Planning Institute

Post by Steven Dale

At the end of this month I’ll be giving two talks in Wellington at the New Zealand Planning Institute’s annual conference. I’ll be discussing – what else – urban gondolas, this website and the issue of disruptive technologies and insurgent ideas.

As a fair bit of The Gondola Project’s readership hails from New Zealand, I’m thinking of scheduling a meet-up for any readers/contributors/commenters who might come from the Wellington area or will be there for the conference. It would be great to finally put names to faces and learn a bit about what’s going on in New Zealand from an urbanist perspective. Oh, and we can talk about gondolas, too, I guess.

If you’re interested, send me an email at gondola (at) creativeurbanprojects (dot) com.

  1. I take it you have searched wellington's transport. I like the trolleybuses (although they annoyingly don't run on weekends). The Funicular is worth a visit. Wellingtons rail system is quite good for such a small city, even if the rolling stock/network is very dated.' I don't plan to be down in wellington in the near future sorry, but enjoy your trip anyway
