Weekly Roundup: Gondola Database, Gondola Rides and More!

Post by Gondola Project

Not exactly an urban gondola but here's a new cable car ride on the Canton Tower in China. Via LifeinGuangzhou.

A few highlights from around the world of Urban Gondolas, Cable Propelled Transit:

  • What’s your vision of New York in 2040? This author sees gondolas!
  • Review of the new Rio Cable Car from a layman’s perspective. Hopefully with more Urban Gondola systems around the world, less people will refer to them as “Carny Grade Transit” no matter how hilarious it sounds.
  • And finally, a must see for all you CPT junkies out there – another online gondola database! I know..it’s pretty sweet.

  1. That cable car ride (image) looks nutty! Looks like the Edgewalk, the soon to be outdoor walkway around the CN tower. No cable car, just a harness. It opens in august in Toronto. Look at the preview, so windy http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IJy-t_yc9l8&feature=related and here's the website http://www.edgewalkcntower.ca/
