A few highlights from around the world of Urban Gondola Transit and Cable Propelled Transit:

  • The Philippines’ Department of Agriculture plans to build 54 ropeway systems throughout the country as a means to help farmers bring their goods to market. This is a rather nascent sector of the cable transit industry and one that is currently poorly understood.
  • Writer Alex Jablokov has written a steampunk-esque short story for Asimov’s Science Fiction whose central plot revolves around a futuristic cable-propelled transit system. Alex contacted us and informed us that this site was a key resource for him. Glad to be of help, Alex! Read The Day The Wires Came Down here.

  1. @ Day the Wires My guess is that another of Alex's key resource was Las Vegas' Rio Casino's 'Show in the Sky'. Great technology, but hard to concentrate for some reason. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cqzJ71uUFpE&feature=related
  2. Instead of Whales Online I much prefer reading Cetacean Daily. They have all that's fit to print from under the sea.
